Reopening America: Coronavirus Reopening Measures in All 50 States

Data was last refreshed on 5/27/2020.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that travel has been restrictive in the United Sates and in most countries around the world. Many states in the U.S. have had some form of a lockdown, which restricts their residents movement, since March in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The ultimate determinant for whether a state would re-open was whether or not they had been able to successfully flatten the curve. However, in the last few weeks we have seen many states re-open and loosen lockdown requirements because of the fear of further detriment to the economy. Since there is no country-wide plan for reopening the country and each state has its own, I have created some visualizations to show the progress of reopening across the country.

Remember that a state reopening does not mean that Coronavirus is completely gone or that it is safe to stop practicing social distancing. Please consider following CDC guidelines. Keep in mind that the data below is subject to change as reopening continues.

Below are a few visualizations highlighting the current measures each state is taking towards reopening. For an interactive version of the visualizations please click here.

Visualizations below:

Traveler Quarantine Requirement by State
Easing of Social Distancing Measures by State
Stay at Home Order by State
Restaurant Limits by State

I hope this helps you better understand the progress of reopening across the country. The data will be updated periodically and was last updated on 5/27/2020.
